Fertilization

Fertilization is an indispensable operation to be able to make plants grow, obtain good crops and correct blooms. This is because by providing both mineral and organic nutrients to the soil, it is possible to provide greater nourishment to plants. The operation can be carried out manually, but for large areas of land the use of this technique is not recommended, in fact it is advisable to use special machinery capable of spreading the fertilizer faster and more precisely. The fertilizer spreader is a machine that is used to distribute solid fertilizers both granular, and those in the form of crystal or powder, some models can also spread organic fertilizers in the form of pellets. There are two different types of machinery, the pneumatic model and the centrifugal one. We will see in detail these two types in the following paragraphs.


Fertilizer spreader

The centrifugal model is the simplest and cheapest device and is made up of a hopper, which has the shape of an inverted cone or pyramid, into which the fertilizer is loaded which will fall by gravity onto an underlying rotating platform. Spreading occurs by rotating the platform as the tractor moves across the ground. In this way, however, there is no regular fertilization, since the product does not fall on the substrate in a uniform manner. The pneumatic one, on the other hand, has better characteristics, in fact the hopper lets the fertilizer fall into a forced air current. Through a system of pipes, the fertilizer is sent to the distribution system which is represented by a series of nozzles that deliver the nutrients to the soil, thus allowing it to be strengthened in the best possible way.

The pneumatic fertilizer spreader it has the advantage over the centrifugal one of not having the need for overlapping passages for a better delivery of the products, since the homogeneity of the spreading is guaranteed by the technical and construction solutions. The pneumatic fertilizer spreader it can be used for fertilizers reduced to powder and at most for microgranules, while it absolutely cannot be used for granules, crystals and pellets. There are fertilizer spreaders of various sizes and with different functions. In fact, some can be programmed for diversified fertilizations based on the areas of the land undergoing the intervention. Using the satellites it is possible to load the maps on the fertilizer spreader computer in order to highlight the various areas of fertilization, in order to program it in an optimal way.


Types of fertilizer spreaders

There are many types of fertilizer spreaders of different sizes, with more or less large hoppers depending on the amount of fertilizer that must be spread on the ground. It is possible to use small manual machinery for vegetable gardens or larger machinery that connects to tractors for very large fields. The costs of fertilizer spreaders vary according to the model, centrifugal or pneumatic, the capacity of the hopper, the size of the dispensers and therefore the possibility of fertilizing large areas. Each fertilizer spreader has power requirements that must be guaranteed by the tractor on which they are mounted, so in choosing the correct model this fundamental aspect must also be taken into consideration, so that the operation is correct and the characteristics of the machinery can be fully exploited.
